The team

Small team. Sharp focus.

Nicholas Marquardt and Arnaldo Vera started Enera, and we're growing a team of builders with a passion for craft and invention. We've just raised $2mm pre-seed from top US VCs, and a collection of founders and investors. We have offices in Barcelona and London and believe a small team with sharp focus is how the best things get created.

Why Enera

The recovery layer for everyday machines.

Enera combines multichannel agents (voice, email, chat), real-time backend control, and operational intelligence to diagnose, recover, and resolve failures on the world's connected hardware. Starting with EV charging.

01

Real customers from day one

We started building in October 2025 and went live in the UK in January. Every line you write touches a real driver in real time.

02

Tiny team, huge ownership

We keep our team small. You'll own real problems end-to-end, ship work that actually matters, and see the direct impact of what you build.

03

Top-of-market salary

We benchmark against the top quartile for your role and location, and we top it up with meaningful early-stage equity.

04

Health, fully covered

Therapy and coaching from any provider you choose, plus a full gym membership wherever keeps you moving. Your head and body are the most important tools you bring to work; we treat them that way.

Our offices

Where we build, every day.

We're working from the beautiful coworking space of Norrsken. Surrounded by other founders and incredible people. The best problems still get solved when you're sitting next to the person solving them.

Hi 👋 I'm Arnaldo, cofounder and CTO at Enera. We are building an engineering culture that's ingenious, hands-on and where sharp engineers come to build and create. A small and very focused team obsessed with making great technology with the customer in mind.

With $2mm pre-seed freshly raised from top US VCs, we are building the autonomous recovery layer for the world's electronic infrastructure, starting with electric vehicle (EV) charging.

Agents meeting the physical space is a hugely complex, open problem. You'll work on some of the hardest challenges in applied AI, on systems that millions of people depend on.

In return you'll get real founding equity, full ownership of the stack, and a problem big enough to compound for a decade.

What's Enera

At Enera, we're building AI-based systems that recover physical hardware, starting with the EV charging industry. When an EV charger fails, our voice agent takes the call, talks the driver through it, and reaches into the operator's backend systems to fix the problem.

With a high failure rate and explosive growth, EV charging is our first step. But the world increasingly runs on distributed, connected hardware: parking systems, car washes, kiosks, vending, medical devices. Anywhere distributed connected hardware fails, we want our agents handling it.

What you'll do

You'll own systems end to end, contribute to product and technical strategy, sit with customers, design platforms from first principles, and help build the kind of engineering org people want to join.

  • Build and ship the core product across the voice agent, real-time tool calling, integrations and the analytics dashboard.
  • Work directly with our clients, think FDE.
  • Design the layer between AI and deterministic systems, deciding where models can decide freely and where we need a deterministic approach.
  • Turn production calls into evals, building the pipeline that converts every conversation into regression tests, prompt-tuning data and training signal.
  • Build the AI-native workflow, with Claude Code, parallel agent worktrees, generated specs and CI where agents are landing PRs alongside us.

Who you are

  • Customer-obsessed. You design back from the driver standing next to a broken charger.
  • Get the trade-offs right between the duct-tape MVP that wins a pilot and the abstraction that pays back for two years, and live with the consequences either way.
  • Biased to ship. A rough version in front of users this week beats a polished one next month, and you're comfortable learning in public.
  • Owner's mindset. If something is broken you fix it, if something is missing you build it, and you don't wait to be asked.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You sketch a few framings, pick the most promising, and start moving rather than wait for clarity.
  • Pragmatic about AI. You know when a model is the right tool and when it isn't.
  • Energised by in-person work. You believe the hard problems get solved at a whiteboard.
  • Team-first. You make the next pot of coffee and notice when someone else is carrying more than their share.
  • A fundamentally good human being. Honest, kind, low-ego. Talent matters, but we are going to spend hundreds if not thousands of hours together, character matters more.

What you bring

  • Strong engineering fundamentals. You can architect, instrument, troubleshoot and deploy reliable systems.
  • Proficiency in one statically typed lang (ideally TS or Go but no hard feelings over the rest).
  • Experience shipping AI products end-to-end, or proof that you can learn what's needed.
  • Comfortable working across the stack: backend, frontend, infra, prompts and evals throughout.
  • The ability to work directly with non-technical operators, ask the right questions, and navigate from high-level to low-level concepts with ease.

Bonus if you have

  • Strong Python skills.
  • Voice AI: STT, TTS, VAD, latency optimization, accent handling.
  • Early-stage startup experience, especially the messy part where the product isn't decided yet.
  • AI-native dev workflow fluency. Claude Code, Cursor, agent orchestration. You already work this way.

Perks

  • 💰 Competitive Salary and Equity. We want you to be part of this. Reference from levels.fyi.
  • 🤸🏽‍♀️ Paid gym or whatever physical activity you are into.
  • 💭 Paid mental health support.
  • 👩‍⚕️ Health Insurance.
  • 🚲 Paid means to get to the office.
  • 🏝️ Barcelona. 2,600 hours of sun, beach in 10 mins, mountains in 60. And the tech scene (Biorce, Cala, Modern Relay, Typeform...) is one of Europe's strongest.

As our Founding AI Engineer, you'll own the brain of the product: the voice agents, the evals, the prompting, the model selection, and the layer where AI meets deterministic systems that millions of people depend on.

In return you'll get real founding equity, full ownership of the AI stack, and a problem big enough to compound for a decade.

What's Enera

At Enera, we're building AI-based systems that recover physical hardware, starting with the EV charging industry. When an EV charger fails, our voice agent takes the call, talks the driver through it, and reaches into the operator's backend systems to fix the problem.

What you'll do

You'll own the AI systems end to end, contribute to product and technical strategy, sit with customers, design the agent architecture from first principles, and help build the kind of engineering org people want to join.

  • Own the voice agent, from prompts and tool use to latency, barge-in, accent handling and recovery from model failure modes.
  • Build the eval pipeline, turning every production call into regression tests, prompt-tuning data and training signal.
  • Design the layer between AI and deterministic systems, deciding where models can decide freely and where we need guardrails.
  • Work directly with our clients, sitting next to operators to turn real failure modes into agent capabilities, think FDE.
  • Push the frontier of what voice agents can do, fine-tuning, distillation, speculative tool calling, real-time orchestration — whatever it takes to make the experience feel magical.

  • Comfortable with ambiguity. You sketch a few framings, pick the most promising, and start moving rather than wait for clarity.
  • Rigorous about evals. You don't ship prompt changes on vibes. You build the measurement before the change.

  • Experience shipping AI products end-to-end in production, with real users and real failure modes.
  • Deep familiarity with the modern AI stack: prompting, tool use, retrieval, evals, fine-tuning, agent orchestration.
  • Proficiency in Python, plus at least one statically typed lang (ideally TS or Go but no hard feelings over the rest).
  • The ability to work directly with non-technical operators, ask the right questions, and navigate from high-level to low-level concepts with ease.

Bonus if you have

  • Voice AI experience: STT, TTS, VAD, latency optimization, accent handling, telephony.
  • Built or operated an eval pipeline that drove real product decisions, not just dashboards.
  • Fine-tuning or distillation experience on top of frontier models.
  • Early-stage startup experience, especially the messy part where the product isn't decided yet.
