Enera, the AI driver experience platform for electric vehicle (EV) charging, today announced the close of a $2M funding round. The round was led by Lakehouse Ventures, in their first investment outside of the US. Other participants included Divergent Capital (US), Masia (Spain) and a number of angels, including eight founders from across the ecosystem.
The capital will accelerate pilots already underway with leading UK Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and fund their European expansion.
Charging operators are flying blind and drivers are being left behind
EVs are now mainstream. For the first time, they outsold petrol vehicles across Europe in December 2025. But the charging industry is struggling to keep up. While charging operators report 99% charger uptime, the reality is that 29% of charging sessions still fail. The gap between what the hardware reports and what drivers experience is the industry's achille's heel.
The gap remains unsolved because the industry isn't hearing or helping drivers. Today, CPOs rely on outsourced helplines to support struggling drivers. These call centres aren't EV experts, suffer chronic turnover, and leave drivers waiting during peak hours. When a driver does make it through to an agent, they are not structurally equipped to capture the data that would explain why charges fail.
Enera both hears and helps drivers. First, our Control Room ingests every driver support call, telemetry signal and backend log, then uses AI to answer the question the industry has yet to be able to answer at scale: why aren't your drivers able to charge? For the first time, operators can see exactly where the experience is breaking down. Then they roll out bespoke AI Support Agents to solve the biggest pain points, taking helpline calls, troubleshooting live, proactively monitoring the network and reaching out to drivers even before issues arise. Drivers get 24/7 instant, technical support the moment they need it. CPOs get a network where every charge has the best possible chance of succeeding, and the data to make theirs the CPO you can trust.
A voice in every machine
“EV charging is the sharpest example of a much bigger problem: the world increasingly runs on distributed, connected hardware, but when something goes wrong the person standing in front of it isn't an engineer. Operators can't see where their experience is breaking down, and users carry the cost. We are building the AI recovery layer for that entire category of infrastructure, starting where the pain is sharpest and the market is growing fastest.”
Nicholas Marquardt, Co-Founder and CEO, Enera
“AI customer support has been one of the most well-funded categories of the last two years, but almost all of that capital has gone into asset-light industries. Enera is one of the first teams we have seen credibly take this technology into asset-heavy infrastructure, where the stakes are higher and the integrations are harder. We are excited to back Nicholas, Arnaldo, and the team as they prove it out in EV charging and open up a much larger opportunity from there.”

About Enera
Enera is building the AI recovery layer for the world's electronic infrastructure, starting with electric vehicle charging. Its white-labelled AI agents resolve failed charging sessions in real time, while its Control Room gives CPOs operational intelligence across their entire network. The company is headquartered in London and Barcelona and was founded in 2025 by Nicholas Marquardt (formerly at Papaya, Arrival, Zoomo and Greentech Capital Advisors) and Arnaldo Vera (formerly at Schneider Electric, MongoDB and YC-backed Handoff.ai).
